The Les Paul !

The Les Paul is a wonderfully balanced electric guitar. Everything on the guitar is designed to compliment another feature.

Body: Les Paul has a heavy body, which produces a thicker, more resonant tone. When it comes to sustain, the mass of the les paul is key. Strike open E and feel the stomach boom!

Bridge and Neck: A hard tail bridge provides a solid unwavering tone. Great for varied palm muting, because the bridge doesn't move. The thick neck prodives the most sustain and balance for the les paul. Rhythm and solos, its quite comfortable. Again, this whole setup sings "sustain."

Pickups: 2 Humbucker pickups, tone and volume knobs for BOTH. These knobs are in pinky proximity. The switch placement is out of rhythm hand's path, away from the strings, so when you switch that tone do may do it in silence or sustain note and chord.
Neck PU: AKA Rhythm pickup. Big and warm, or use the tone knob to cool it. Nice dark lows and soft highs. Puurrrrfect for Rhythm. Creamy solos/fills encouraged.
Bridge PU: AKA Treble pickup. Here's your bitey, crisp, cutting tone. Use the tone knob to illuminate desired strings. Even better with distortion, sprinkled or sprayed. Solo break anyone?

Set-up: Neck bowed? Intonation off? Action not quite right? The les paul is very accessable for adjustment. If you are inexperienced, do go playin' around with this... unless you look forward to toying with your action and intonation.
